DIY Scrapbook Paper Flag Banner {$55 Little Girl Playroom Project}

Today I'm sharing the first tutorial in my $55 Little Girl Playroom Reveal Series.
As a renter, I wanted to come up with a solution to adding a splash of color to the room... without painting the walls. I knew I wanted to make a teepee, so after some brainstorming I decided to make a few garlands of colorful flags to hang from the teepee.

This is a super easy, inexpensive and fun way to add color to a room or a party.

I found some great colors and patterns for my flags at Joann's. I wanted to mix different patterns and colors, so I got some with stripes, some with polka dots and some plain papers.
I only chose paper that was in my color scheme.

To start your flag banner, align your papers and cut them into wide triangles. Pretty simple.

Keep cutting them until you have lots and lots of them! :)

Using a glue gun, glue your string onto the two widest corners of your triangles.

If any of your papers are not double sided, make sure to glue the string to the blank sides, so the messy glue globs will face the back.

And there you have it! Some pretty flag banners!

I used the same scrapbook paper in other projects (like this marquee light) in the room to tie it all in.

And I tied them onto the top of the teepee and played around with the draping angel.

I love it! It may not be the most practical decoration for everyone (as in you have to play limbo to get under it in certain areas of the room) But my goal in this room was to go all out, and since it's a playroom for a toddler, it doesn't have to be super functional for me. You can always hang it flat up against the wall if you don't want to lose space.

This is such a cheap alternative to paint when it comes to bringing a splash of color into your space (See bottom of post for cost breakdown)

It's such a quick and easy project & I know I'll use it for years to come.
