"Texas Roadhouse Steak Tipps" Knock Off

My husband loves this meal; but then again, this meal is really as “man food” as you can get… but I like it too!

  • ¾ cup flour
  • tbs. salt
  • tbs. pepper
  • tbs. garlic powder
  • about 10 oz of steak stew meat (cut into stew size chunks)
  • one onion chopped
  • 2tbs. butter
  • Cup of mushrooms
  • ¼ cup of white cooking wine
  • 1 cup milk
Mix the flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder together. Toss the cut up steak in the flour mixture.

Put meat in pan with hot oil. Let brown for about a minute and then add diced onions. Cook until the meat is seared nicely (medium rare-ish) and the onions are clear. Don’t worry if it kinda sticks to the pan- because that’s going to become our sauce! Add the milk and white wine and let it reduce a little. TASTE! If there isn’t enough flavor add more salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes.

Meanwhile, sauté mushrooms in the butter (this is the best part!)

Serve with mashed potatoes and a side of corn!
The steak and its sauce act like gravy and the mushrooms paired up with it are amazingly tasty (I don’t like giving any mushrooms to my husband! I just want to eat them all! :P)

Enjoy! This is one of our favorites!
