DIY LEGO Ninja Hat out of a Ski Mask

This Christmas I made each of the guys in our family a special hat reflecting their personality. Because my little brother is really into Legos and Spinjitzu (whatever that is :) I decided to make him a Lego Ninja Hat.

I based it off of this cute little guy.

I wanted to make it as easy as possible so I got a ski mask, figuring I could just cover up the "mouth opening" with the excess flap.

So for starters, I snipped the middle of the eyes so it would just be one wide opening. Then I hemmed it. Next, I measure out how much yellow fabric I would need for they eyes.

I turned it inside out and then just did a basic stitch around the eyes (using black thread)

So far so good.

Next, I cut out some felt eyes. It took a little tweaking to get the shape to be similar enough to the actual Lego Ninja eyes. When I finally got them both right, I sewed them on.

I wanted that "plastic shine" look they have in their eyes, so I cut some white plastic I had into two circles. You could use a hole punch too.

Lastly, I hot glue gunned the white circles on.

And there you have it! I asked my husband to model the hat before I gave it to my brother. He was all too happy to goof off for, oops... I mean MODEL, for me.

The hat is meant to be worn like this, with the flap covering the "mouth opening." But if you want to be crazy (and run around "blind") you can wear it as a full face mask to be... weird.

It was really easy. I think it only took me like 10 Minutes and it only cost about a dollar for the ski mask, and another dollar or so for the yellow & black felt. Not bad!
