Sharpie on Ceramics! Bake at 350 for 30 minutes & it's permanent!
If you're on Pinterest, I am sure most of you have seen this awesome idea- Writing on your dishes with sharpies! I love Crafty Texas Girl's Version, A Beautiful Mess also did an adorable version & Brooklyn Limestone has a great plate idea (however, she uses a real ceramic pen for hers.) If you bake the sharpie design on it, its supposed to be permanent. I just had to give this one a try!
First, wash & dry your dishes.
Sketch out your design on a piece of paper to make sure you like it.
Next, use your sharpie (or ceramic pen) to draw on it.
I did a Mr. & Mrs. design as a wedding present.
Supposedly, if your use nail polish remover, you can wipe off any mistakes.
Now, you can bake it. Put it into the oven cold, and heat to 350.
Once it reaches 350, keep it in there for about 30 minutes.
After the 30 minutes, turn the oven off and let your dishes cool down in the oven. I did this at night, and left them in there until morning.
And now you have an adorable, personalized, "limited edition," one of a kind mug!
They are so cute! I am going to have to do this again!
Use and Care:
Since I only did the design on the outside & away from the rim of the cup, I am sure that these are "food safe." However, if using on something like a plate, I personally would not eat any food directly up against the marker. It's up to you though.
These should be hand washed.
These make adorable gifts. You could do this for cookie plates you give to your neighbors (write their name on it so they won't give the plate back.) Or use this as a personalized wedding present (fill them with coffee beans and tea bags) - so many possibilities!
Hope you try it out for yourself! It's super easy & doesn't take any time at all!
